12 UAE banks among top valuable brands in 2019

Dubai - Mubasher: Twelve UAE banks ranked among the top valuable banking brands, according to the Brand Finance Global 500 2019 report published by the Banker.

The total value of banking brands in the UAE amounted to AED 56.518 billion ($15.4 billion), topping the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region and acquiring the 17th position globally, the report added.  

UAE banking brands registered a 6% year-on-year growth in terms of value, surpassing other banking brands in Germany, Italy, Belgium, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and others.

Emirates NBD was named the most valuable banking brand locally with a total value of $4.04 billion, registering a 14.3% year-on-year rise and ranking the 76th globally.

Meanwhile, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) came at the 79th spot globally with a value of $3.89 billion, following an annual growth rate of 25.2%. Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), Mashreq Bank, Union National Bank (UNB) and National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah followed.

The list also included Emirates Islamic Bank for the first time along with Noor Bank, Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD), and the National Bank of Fujairah (NBF).

 

Global ranking

Internationally, Chinese banks dominated the scene, with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) topping the list with value of $79.823 billion, followed by China Construction Bank with $69.742 billion.  

The Agricultural Bank of China came in the third spot with value of $55.04 billion, followed by Bank of China with $50.99 billion.
