12 UAE infrastructure projects worth AED 1bn underway – Minister

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE Ministry of Infrastructure Development is currently working on implementing 12 projects worth AED 1.043 billion, Albayan newspaper said, citing minister Abdullah Belhaif Alnuaimi.

The new projects include the first phase of the road which links between Sheikh Khalifa Street in Fujairah and Khatm Melaha Customs Centre, worth AED 120 million. It is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2017, Alnuaimi added, according to the newspaper.

Another project focuses on the development and expansion of the Hamad bin Abdullah Road in Fujairah worth AED 250 million, and expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2020.

Other projects include developing the intersection of Albadie Bridge, establishing three buildings for the Ministry of Interior, three buildings for the Ministry of Justice, and the cultural centre project in Fujairah, Alnuaimi noted.

He had earlier stated that the ministry allocated AED 6 billion ($1.63 billion) for new investments in infrastructure during 2017.

The minister pointed out that the UAE has allocated AED 10 billion ($2.7 billion) over the next five years to develop the country’s infrastructure.
