Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE government announced granting the first batch of long-term visas to 20 scientists and researchers.
The 10-year visas include professors working at Khalifa University and UAE University as well as other academics and researchers, who were the winners and finalists of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Medal for Scientific Excellence, Gulf Business reported.
“The granting of long-term resident visas to scientists and researchers is a reflection of the UAE leadership’s vision to enhance the country’s position as a destination for creative minds and talents,” Sarah bint Yousif Al Amiri, minister of State for Advanced Sciences, said.
In November 2018, the cabinet approved a new comprehensive long-term visa system for investors, entrepreneurs, specialized talents and researchers and outstanding students.
This follows the previous decision approved earlier this year to grant investors ten-year residency visa, as well as to grant residency visas of up to 10 years for specialised specialists in the medical, scientific, research and technical fields, and for scientists and creative talents of culture and arts, including their spouses and children
