3,000 jets fly worldwide with ‘Made in the UAE’ parts

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: There are around 3,000 aircraft with wings and parts that have been branded with the slogan “Made proud in the UAE” and manufactured by Abu Dhabi’s Strata, representing about 8% of the total fleet of commercial aircraft across the world, the company’s CEO said.

Strata, a manufacturer of aircraft mechanical structures wholly owned by the UAE's Mubadala Investment Company, is building a new plant under the name of “Strata Solvi Advanced Materials”, in collaboration with Belgium composite company Solvi, CEO of Strata Ismail Ali Abdullah added.

The new plant will be responsible for the production of saturated carbon compounds, also referred to as "composite materials" High-tech (carbon fiber), which was used to produce structures to aircraft.

The plant will be established over an area of 8,000 square metres and is expected to start operation by 2020.

The new facility, producing higher carbon fibre materials for the Boeing 777X alone, will be the world's fourth-largest expert in producing higher carbon fibre materials for aircraft structures, the CEO noted.

Abdullah added that the company had successfully completed the process of adapting the external surfaces of Airbus A350-900 aircraft, and completed the production of the first batch of these parts for the benefit of the Belgian company Sabka.
