Riyadh – Mubasher: More than 50 international firms are interested in forging partnerships with Saudi domestic plants to take role in manufacturing military spare parts and their industries, said Major General Attiya al-Maliki, general directorate of the defense ministry's local manufacturing support.
The companies are from Europe, Korea, China, and the US, Al-Maliki added during an interview with Al Arabiya television on Wednesday.
Saudi military industry comprises about 80,000 investment opportunities for the private sector.
Saudi Aramco, the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden), and Saudi Airlines Catering Co will offer their services to take part in these military investments.
Al-Maliki affirmed that the Saudi Vision 2030 aims to implement Saudisation in 50% of military expenses, commenting that the focus will be on the small- and medium-sized enterprises.
The kingdom will concentrate on manufacturing military pieces that are involved in construction and maintenance of entities.
On Monday, the Saudi official stated that the domestically-produced items surpassed 5,427 during 2017.
