68% of Riyadh Metro project has been completed – Official

Riyadh – Mubasher: Arriyadh Development Authority said that 68% of Riyadh Metro’s works have been finalised, said Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdel Aziz, chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh.

 The project’s pilot operation will start by the end of 2018, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), citing bin Abdel Aziz as saying.

The project's construction is undergoing in 250 locations along with Riyadh’s train network, while the megaproject would include main and sub-stations, as well as deep tunnels, said Ibrahim bin Mohammad Al-Sultan, Member of the High Commission and President of Arriyadh Development Authority.

About 98% of bridges' building has been finished, followed by 86% in subsurface path works, Al-Sultan added.

With the length of 176 kilometres, Riyadh Metro project is considered the largest in the world at a value of $23 billion, including six lines with 85 stations.
