ACIG announces license renewal from Saudi regulator IA

Riyadh – Mubasher: Allied Cooperative Insurance Group (ACIG) has obtained an approval from the Insurance Authority (IA) for the annual re-licensing to practice health insurance, according to a bourse disclosure.

The license allows the company to continue its operations in this vital sector for a one-year period, ensuring business continuity for the 2026-2027 regulatory cycle.

ACIG, a prominent cooperative insurance provider listed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) under the symbol 8150, received official notification from the IA on 27 May 2026. The notification confirms the re-qualification of the company to engage in health insurance services, following a comprehensive review process conducted by the national regulator.

The newly issued license is scheduled to take effect on 24 June 2026, and will remain valid until 23 June 2027. This 12-month term is consistent with the standard regulatory framework established by the Saudi regulator IA, which requires insurance providers to undergo annual evaluations to maintain their operational status within specific insurance branches.

The re-qualification process is designed to ensure that all licensed entities adhere to the Kingdom’s stringent standards regarding financial solvency, operational efficiency, and consumer protection.

In the context of the Saudi Arabian insurance market, health insurance represents one of the most significant and high-volume sectors. This is driven largely by national regulations that mandate health insurance coverage for all private-sector employees and their dependents.

For a listed entity like ACIG, maintaining a valid health insurance license is essential for its market position and revenue stability, as it allows the company to continue serving its diverse portfolio of corporate and individual clients.

The IA serves as the dedicated regulator for the insurance industry in the Kingdom, while utilizing the annual re-licensing mechanism to monitor the health of the sector and ensuring that providers are aligned with the broader goals of the Financial Sector Development Program.

The timely receipt of this approval, nearly a month before the current licensing term expires, indicates that ACIG has successfully met the necessary benchmarks to remain a qualified provider in the health insurance branch.
