ADNOC, Mubadala’s Spanish unit to build LAB facility in Ruwais

Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has announced the signing of a project development agreement with Spain’s Cepsa to establish Linear Alkylbenzene (LAB) facility in ADNOC’s refining and petrochemicals complex in Ruwais.

The LAB project came as a part of Adnoc’s plan to boost its refining operations and support its downstream plans, according to a company statement released on Monday.

“The development of a new LAB facility will enable the emergence of a surfactants cluster in our new Ruwais Derivatives and Conversion Parks, diversifying the number and type of industries being developed there,” Downstream Director at ADNOC Abdulaziz Al Hajri commented.

The new facility is projected to produce 150,000 tonnes of LAB annually, the UAE-based energy giant revealed.

“The start-up of this complex underscores our commitment to continue developing our international operations as part of our integrated business model,” CEO of Cepsa Pedro Miró said.

The deal’s value was not revealed.

Cepsa is fully-owned by the UAE’s Mubadala Investment Company.
