ADNOC Drilling completes 1st integrated drilling services well

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: ADNOC Drilling, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), on Sunday announced that it has completed its first fully “integrated drilling services” well in the Al Dabbyia onshore field, in the Al Dhafra Region of Abu Dhabi.

This well is the first of its type to be drilled in a fully integrated way, the ADNOC’s drilling unit said in a statement.

The move is a fruit of a strategic partnership between ADNOC and Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), which is helping enable and support the growth and development of ADNOC Drilling.

ADNOC Drilling eyes new business opportunities in the UAE and overseas markets, the statement added.

The newly-finished well was completed ahead of plan and within budget, achieving a best-in-class performance in terms of drilling efficiency, it pointed out.

“The transformation of ADNOC Drilling into a fully integrated drilling and well-completion company is part of ADNOC’s group-wide transformation to ensure it thrives in the evolving energy landscape and takes advantage of new market opportunities,” Abdulmunim Saif Al Kindy, ADNOC upstream executive director, said.

However, ADNOC studies to raise its conventional drilling activity by 40% by 2025, as it targets 4 million barrels of oil production capacity per day by the end of 2020, and 4 million barrels by the end of 2030

“Becoming a fully integrated drilling and well-completion company is another major milestone in our development and expansion strategy. It will enable us to better support ADNOC in delivering its exploration and production growth plans and in capturing more value from every barrel of oil it produces,” Abdalla Saeed Al Suwaidi, CEO of ADNOC Drilling, concluded.
