ADNOC awards two $1.65bn contracts to Petrofac

UAE – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has awarded two contracts worth around $1.65 billion (AED 6.06 billion) to Petrofac Emirates and a joint venture between Petrofac and the subsidiary of Sapura Energy Berhad in Abu Dhabi.

Under the contracts, Petrofac Emirates will construct the offshore facilities of ADNOC’s Dalma Gas Development Project which is located about 190 kilometers northwest of Abu Dhabi, according to ADNOC’s press release.

The two contracts, expected to be completed in 2022, will enable the Dalma Gas project to produce around 340 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of natural gas, fulfilling ADNOC’s strategic objective to make the UAE gas self-sufficient.

The first $1.065 billion (AED 3.9 billion) contract will focus on establishing gas processing and compression units, power generation units, utilities, and other associated infrastructure in Arzanah Island, located 80 kilometers from Abu Dhabi.

Meanwhile, under the second $591 million (AED 2.17 billion) package, the joint venture between Petrofac and Sapura Energy will execute four offshore wellhead towers, pipelines and umbilicals in Hair Dalma, Satah, and Bu Haseer fields.

Executive director of ADNOC’s upstream directorate, Yaser Saeed Almazrouei, said: “Petrofac and Sapura Energy were selected to deliver this crucial project after an extremely competitive and rigorous tender process that ensures that 70% of the award value will flow into the UAE’s economy as In-Country Value.”
