ADX adds 161 pts in 2019, rises 0.84% in December

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The general index of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) grew by 161.9 points, or 3.29%, to 5,075.77 points in 2019.

Market capitalisation went up by AED 27.7 billion to AED 523.9 billion over the year, compared to AED 496.16 billion in the previous year.

The real estate sector rose by 29.84% and the banking sector increased by 5.41%. On the other hand, the telecom and energy sectors shed 3.76% and 1.58%, respectively.

Aldar Properties, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, and Adnoc Distribution surged 40.26%, 39.18%, and 33.19%, respectively. First Abu Dhabi Bank added 10.39% and Dana Gas gained 10.2%.

On the other hand, Taqa plummeted 47.8%, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank shed 3.18%, and Etisalat lost 2.73%.

ADX levelled up by 42.44 points, or 0.84%, to 5,075.77 points in December, from 5,030.75 points in November.

Market capitalisation increased to AED 521.37 billion over the month, compared to AED 513.93 billion in the previous month.

The banking sector grew 0.51% in December and the energy sector added 3.72%. In contrast, the real estate sector shed 0.16% and the telecom sector stabilised.
