ADX breaks 3-day losing streak, rises 0.75%

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The main index of the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) rose at Sunday’s close by 0.75% or 33.5 points to the level of 4,496.53 points, ending a three-day losing streak.

Trading volume decreased to 45.74 million shares from 80.9 million shares exchanged on Thursday, turnover also shrank to AED 56.26 million from AED 141.97 million.

Trading Director of Al Ansari Financial Services, Eyad Al Bariqi, told Mubasher that the UAE stock markets saw a slowdown in trading activity due to profit taking.

Al Bariqi expected the markets to see improvements in liquidity before the end of the year as investors tend to build new positions for future hikes in stocks.

The energy sector leapt 1.07%, backed by a 1.85% rise in Dana Gas, while Taqa fell 1.85%.

The telecom sector grew 0.82% as Etisalat ascended by the same percentage.

The banks sector levelled up 0.82% due to an increase of 2% in First Gulf Bank and 0.51% in National Bank of Abu Dhabi.

On the other hand, the real estate sector declined 1.02% as Aldar and Eshraq fell 1.11% and 0.97% respectively.

Eshraq made the highest turnover of AED 12.2 million, while Manazel Real Estate was the largest-traded stock with a volume of 16 million shares.
