ADX closes New Year’s 1st session in red

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed in the red on Sunday, weighed by the collective decline of leading stocks.

The general index lost 0.83% or 35.7 points to reach 4,271.5 points.

Trading volume reached 53.11 million shares on Sunday, compared to 56 million shares on Thursday. Turnover stood at AED 61.92 million ($16.86 million), compared to AED 265.51 million ($72.27 million).

The telecom sector declined 0.93% as Etisalat fell 0.93%.

The real estate sector lost 0.89% after Eshraq Properties decreased 1.82%.

The banks sector slid 0.88% after First Gulf Bank, National Bank of Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank retreated 1.19%, 0.75% and 2.28%, respectively.

On the flipside, the energy sector fell 1.57% as Dana Gas levelled down 1.96%.

Etisalat was the value leader after generating AED 16.5 million through 130 transactions.
