ADX closes Thursday in red

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) continued its negative performance for the third day in row on Sunday, weighed down by the fall of energy and real estate stocks.

The main index fell 0.62% or 27.43 points to reach 4,362.17 points.

Turnover reached the lowest level since July 2015 after falling to AED 32.97 million on Sunday, compared to AED 126.68 million on Thursday. Trading volume stood at 18.18 million shares, compared to 54.7 million shares.

The consumer staples sector topped losers with a 2.4% decline as Asmak decreased 6.36%.

The energy sector went down 1.04% as Dana Gas tumbled 1.79%. The real estate sector slid 1.01% after Eshraq Properties and Aldar Properties sank 2.5% and 0.76% respectively.

The banks sector retreated 0.58% as National Bank of Umm Al Qaiwain (NBQ), Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and First Gulf Bank (FGB) slid 10%, 0.94% and 0.44% respectively.

The telecom sector fell 0.5% after Etisalat decreased 0.5%.
