ADX closes Wednesday lower; volume almost triples

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) saw a negative performance on Wednesday, weighed down by the fall of banks and industrial sectors.

The general index fell 0.14% or 6.16 points to reach 4,454.14 points.

The banks sector retreated 0.89% as Sharjah Islamic Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank, and Union National Bank (UNB) slid 2.17%, 1.41%, and 1.24%, respectively.

The industrial sector tumbled 0.11% after Gulf Cement Co and Bildco decreased 6.25% and 11.1%, respectively.

On the other hand, the energy sector led gainers with a 8.24% rise as Dana Gas grew 10.9%.

Dana was the most active stock with a turnover of AED 55.91 million, generated from the exchange of 111.94 million shares through 483 transactions.

Trading volume reached 180.04 million shares on Wednesday, compared to 62.24 million shares on Tuesday. Turnover amounted to AED 219.10 million, compared to AED 127.4 million.
