ADX closes near stable as Etisalat weighs Sunday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange’s (ADX) general index inched down 1.87 points, or 0.04%, to 4,583.53 points on Sunday, dragged down slightly by Etisalat's stock.

The ADX’s trading volume shrank to 86.87 million shares from 91 million on Thursday, while the market’s liquidity dropped to AED 124 million versus AED 151.72 million in the previous session.

The consumer staples sector tumbled 2.7% after Agthia plunged 4.32%, which the telecommunication sector and its only stock, Etisalat, declined 1.13% each.

By contrast, the energy sector grew 1.73%, as Dana Gas and TAQA levelled up 2.17% and 1.25%, respectively.

The real estate sector added 0.8% after Eshraq Properties added 2.78%, while the banks sector increased by 0.29% as Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) jumped 2.16%.
