ADX down to 6-week low

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) witnessed the highest losses in six weeks, weighed by a decline in the energy, banks and real estate sectors.

The general index lost 2.53% or 114.92 points to 4,428.61 points during the week ended 4 May.

Turnover stood at AED 550.89 million after 310.779 million shares were transacted in four trading sessions.

The energy sector fell 6.60% after TAQA and Dana Gas lost 11.11% and 5.26% in a row.

The real estate sector slid 4.22% as Eshraq Properties and Aldar Properties decreased 5.81% and 4.04%, respectively.

The banks sector levelled down 3.9%, hit by National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and First Gulf Bank (FGB) which declined 6.53%, 5.76% and 4.25% in a row.

On the flipside, the telecom sector increased 0.53% as Etisalat advanced 0.53%.

The UAE markets will be closed on Wednesday, on the occasion of Isra and Mi'raj.
