ADX edges higher at Sunday's close

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Sunday in the green after its main index rose 0.14% or 6.42 points, to close the first session of the week at 4,533.52 points.

The ADX’s trading volume stood at 58 million shares on Sunday, against 117.07 million on Thursday, while liquidity retreated to AED 129.5 million, from AED 403.84 million.

The energy sector inched up 0.76% as Dana Gas’ stock increased 2.67%, while the banks segment edged up 0.60% after First Abu Dhabi Bank’s (FAB) stock levelled up 0.92%.

The bourse’s performance is still weak and uncanny in spite of the improvement in the regional and global stock markets, Jamal Ajaj, director of Al Sharhan Shares Centre in Abu Dhabi said.

The real estate sector gained 0.11% as Aldar Properties’ stock grew 0.46%.

On the flipside, the telecommunication sector shed 0.84% after Emirates Telecommunication Group’s (Etisalat) stock declined 0.84%.

The industrial sector went down 1.12% after Julphar Pharmaceuticals’ stock fell 3.77%.

The consumer staples sector rose 3.17% as Agthia Group’s increased 5.97%.

FAB’s stock was the most active after 6.3 million shares were exchanged, generating AED 69.3 million.
