ADX ends Sunday near stable

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Sunday’s trading session in the positive territory, supported by the growth of the banks sector.

The general index increased by 6.31 points, or 0.13%, closing at the first session of the week at 4,968.68 points.

The ADX’s trading volume reached 16.29 million shares exchanged with a turnover of AED 90.44 million through 911 transactions.

The banks sector topped gainers with 0.47% as First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAD) rose 0.97%, while the consumer staples sector jumped 0.68% on the back of Agthia’s 1% increase.

On the negative side, the energy sector headed decliners after falling 1.44% as Abu Dhabi National Energy (TAQA) fell 7.7%, while the telecommunication sector and its sole stock, Etisalat, went down 0.37% each.

Etisalat’s stock led the market in terms of liquidity with AED 35 million, while Aldar Properties’ stock posted the highest trading volume with 4.97 million shares.
