ADX erases early losses Thursday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) reversed its early negative performance on Thursday, spurred by the rise of banks and energy stocks amid higher liquidity.

The general index added 0.78% or 35.09 points to reach 4,617.16 points.

Trading volume reached 63.65 million shares on Thursday, compared to 61.60 million shares on Wednesday. Turnover amounted to AED 194.569 million, compared to AED 172.76 million.

The banks sector topped gainers with a 1.31% increase as National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) gained 1.77% and 1.44%, respectively.

The energy sector added 0.45% after TAQA went up 1.72%.

The telecom sector also gained 0.28% due to a rise in Etisalat by 0.28%.

On the flipside, the real estate sector fell 0.76% as Aldar Properties declined 1.34%.

The investment sector was the worst performer with a 1.48% decline as Waha Capital slid 1.64%.

National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) was the value leader with a turnover of AED 80.19 million, while Eshraq Properties was the most active stock after trading 21.12 million shares.
