ADX extends gains at Wednesday’s close

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) ended Wednesday’s session in green, for the fourth day in row, on the back of leading stocks.

The general index rose 0.96% or 42.95 points to 4,514.99 points.

Trading activity also increased, as turnover hiked to AED 305.09 million from AED 198.5 million, after trading 191.66 million shares through 2,260 transactions, as compared to 169.1 million shares on Tuesday.

The market continued its rise for the fourth consecutive session, in line with the announcement of the companies’ financial results, as well as the rise in oil prices to relatively positive levels, Raed Diab, Vice President of Investment Research Department in KAMCO, said.

The positive trend is expected to continue; however, some minor setbacks might occur, Diab added.

On another note, the banks sector rose 1.09%, pushed up by First Abu Dhabi with 1.45% and Abu Dhabi Islamic with 1.32%.

The real estate sector went up 0.92%, on the back of Aldar Properties with 1.27%.

Etisalat’s stock hiked 0.84%, pushing the telecommunications sector to rise by the same percentage.

Dana Gas achieved the highest trading activity, with 67.2 million shares traded, generating AED 54.4 million.
