ADX falls on telecom, banks stocks Sunday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Sunday’s trading session in the red, weighed down by the fall of telecom and banks sectors.

The main index levelled down 1.09% or 46.91 points to reach 4,261.86 points.

Turnover stood at AED 192.74 million on Sunday, compared to AED 319.43 million last Wednesday. Trading volume reached 110.59 million shares, compared to 110.77 million shares.

The telecom sector fell 3.49% as Etisalat decreased 3.49%.

The banks sector sank 0.47% as Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), First Gulf Bank (FGB), Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) lost 2.42%, 0.43%, 0.43% and 0.21% respectively.

FGB was the value leader after generating AED 52.3 million, while Dana Gas was the most active stock after trading 29.47 million shares.

On the flipside, the energy sector rose 1.95% as TAQA topped gainers with a 10% increase and reached its highest level of AED 0.55% in 11 sessions.

The real estate sector went up 0.85% as Aldar Properties increased 1.21%.
