ADX gains AED 4.7bn on Thursday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Thursday’s trading session, the last session in August 2019, on a positive note.

The ADX’s general index went up by 37.01 points, or 0.72%, to 5,165.57 points.

Trading volume amounted to 101.175 million shares exchanged through 1,345 points at a turnover of AED 306.485 million.

Market capitalisation gained AED 4.729 billion and closed the session at AED 528.478 billion.

The telecommunication sector rose by 1.56%, followed by the real estate and the banks sectors that added 0.68% and 0.65%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the energy sector was the sole decliner with 1.13%.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) was the most heavily traded stock with a trading volume of 6.334 million shares exchanged at a turnover of AED 31.983 million.

Blue-chip stocks including Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Aldar Properties, and Dana Gas rose by 3.45% to AED 8.55, 0.90% to AED 2.22, and 0.10% to AED 0.99, respectively.

On a weekly basis, the general index increased by 2.5% to 5,165.57 points, gaining 126.58 points.

Trading volume retreated to 103.50 million shares this week, versus 302.43 million shares in the week ago.

Additionally, the exchange’s turnover stood at AED 336.11 million by the end of the week, compared to AED 744.40 million last week.
