ADX goes up at Sunday’s close

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange’s (ADX) closed Sunday in the green after its benchmark index went up 0.42%, or 17.94 points, to 4,294.87 points.

On Sunday, trading volume stood at 113.28 million shares , against 49.3 million shares on Thursday, while traded value rose to AED 137.5 million, from AED 83.3 million. 

The telecommunication sector edged up 0.91% as Emirates Telecommunications Group’s (Etisalat) stock rose 0.91%.

The energy sector grew 4.18% after Dana Gas’ stock increased 4.17%.

Earlier on Sunday, Dana Gas managing director Majid Hamid Jafar stated that the documentation pertaining to Dana Gas’ sukuk issue is subject to the UAE laws, which means that the judgment in the case is to be delivered by the UAE court.

The real estate sector increased 0.59% after the stocks of Sharjah Group (SG), RAK Properties, and Aldar Properties gained 4.17%, 1.47%, and 0.92%, respectively.

On Saturday, Aldar Properties announced that it released more apartments for sale in Water’s Edge project.

On the flipside, the banks sector inched down 0.02% as First Abu Dhabi Bank’s (FAB) stock shed 0.49%, and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank’s (ADIB) stock lost 0.27%.

Dana Gas’ stock was the most active in terms of trading volume after 70 million shares were exchanged, through 231 transactions, generating SAR 49.6 million.

A few months ago, Dana’s problems came to light when the company said its $700-million sukuk had become sharia non-compliant.
