ADX maintains uptrend on Etisalat

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) maintained its bullish performance on Wednesday, backed by blue-chip Etisalat.

The general index added 0.12% or 5.46 points to reach 4,394.14 points.

Turnover reached AED 164.74 million ($44.85 million) on Wednesday, compared to AED 226.34 million ($61.62 million) on Tuesday.

Trading volume stood at 98.52 million shares, compared to 123.09 million shares.

The telecom sector increased 1.6% as Etisalat advanced 1.6%.

On the flipside, the energy sector declined 3.5% after TAQA slid 2.27%.

The real estate sector retreated 0.74% stung by Aldar Properties which fell 0.72%.

The banks sector decreased 0.31% after Emirates NBD and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) lost 4.5% and 0.7% in a row.

Building new positions in Etisalat and First Gulf Bank (FGB) helped the market reverse its downtrend, independent analyst Ali Al Shehhi told Mubasher.

The market closed above 4,380 points, signaling that the index can break 4,420 points and target 4,600 points, he added.
