ADX opens lower on real estate, energy stocks

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) saw a bearish performance on Wednesday, weighed down by the fall of blue chips led by the real estate and energy sectors.

The main index retreated 1.44% or 62.56 points to reach 4,285.34 points by 8:25am UAE time.

The consumer staples sector led losers after falling 3.22% as Agthia Group retreated 4.2%.

The real estate sector declined 2.9% as Aldar Properties slid 2.6%. The energy sector also fell 2.9% as Dana Gas retreated 3.7%.

The telecom sector decreased 1.6% after Etisalat levelled down 1.6%. The banks sector also slid 1.25% as First Gulf Bank (FGB) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) sank 2.1% and 1.02% respectively.

The market saw trading of 50.12 million shares through 406 transactions, with a turnover of AED 54.04 million.
