ADX rises amid growing liquidity

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The benchmark index of Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) ended Wednesday’s trading session higher; the fourth consecutive session in green.

The main index edged up by 0.06% or 2.5 points to close at 4,471.57 points.

Turnover soared to AED 163.3 million from AED 71.9 million, after trading volume increased to 116.23 million shares from 106.89 million on Tuesday.

As oil regains positivity in the mid-trading activity, investors increased positions on some stocks, namely Etisalat, capital market analyst Nawaf Al-Ajamy said.

The analyst noted that the UAE market may see heavy purchasing activity, as stocks reach attractive levels amid expectations of improving financials.

ADX’s telecom segment rose by 0.82%, with a similar increase for Etisalat stock.

The insurance sector gained 1.49% as Al Wathba rose by 8.3%.

Meanwhile, Dana Gas lost 1.85% to drag the energy sector down by 1.47%.

The real estate sector retreated by 1.05%, in line with the 1.52% fall of Aldar Properties.
