ADX rises on banks, telecom sectors Monday

Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Monday higher, after registering its lowest level in a month on Sunday.

The benchmark index rose by 1.35% to 4665.24 points, gaining 62.36 points.

Liquidity increased to AED 169.32 million compared with AED 72 million in Sunday’s trading session, while traded volume rose to 85.51 million shares against 54.77 million shares.

Two sectors supported the index’s rise as the banks sector added 1.74% thanks to First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), which grew 2.48%, while Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) and Union National Bank (UNB) gained 1.98% and 0.28%, respectively.

The telecom sector and its stock Etisalat rebounded by 1.46% each.

On the other hand, the energy sector fell 0.44% driven by ADNOC Distribution’s share which decreased by 1.14%.

ADNOC’s general assembly approved on Sunday the proposal to distribute 73.5% dividends to shareholders for the year of 2017, amounting to a total value of AED 735 million or 5.88 fils per share.
