ADX rises on banks stocks Thursday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) saw a positive performance on Thursday.

The general index rose 0.32% or 13.4 points to reach 4,273.04 points.

The banks sector levelled up 0.97%, backed by Union National Bank (UNB) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) which climbed 2.75% and 2.17% respectively.

The industrial sector went up 0.22% as the Abu Dhabi National Company for Building Materials (Bildco) and Gulf Cement Co. declined 9.09% and 1.1% respectively.

On the flipside, the energy sector led losers after falling 4.5%, dragged down by the fall of Dana Gas and TAQA. The real estate sector also retreated 0.04% as Aldar Properties sank 0.4%.

Turnover amounted to AED 340.28 million on Thursday, compared to AED 268.75 million on Wednesday. Trading volume reached 212.61 million shares, compared to 173.68 million shares.

RAK Ceramics, which stabilised at AED 2.4, was the value leader after generating AED 126 million from the exchange of 2.5 million shares.

Eshraq, which rose 1.9%, was the most active stock with a trading volume of 58.2 million shares worth AED 61.3 million.
