ADX rises to highest level since late April

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) maintained its rise for the third successive session on Sunday, following the news that the boards of National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) and First Gulf Bank (FGB) approved merger.

The general index increased 1.15% or 51.78 points to reach 4,549.42, it highest level since 27 April.

The banks sector topped gainers after adding 2.16% as Union National Bank (UNB), National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) and First Gulf Bank (FGB) rose between 1.9% and 5.8%.

The energy sector advanced 0.4% as Dana Gas closed at a rise.

Turnover stood at AED 146.34 million on Sunday, compared to AED 145.75 million last Thursday. Trading volume reached 32.6 million shares, compared to 29.30 million shares.
