ADX sees highest gains in 3 weeks

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) witnessed gains on Monday, spurred by the rise of the banks and energy stocks amid higher trading activity.

The main index closed at 4,559.9 points after adding 32.84 points or 0.73%, its highest gains in 15 sessions.

Trading volume reached 67.98 million shares on Monday, compared to 31.86 million shares last Sunday. Turnover reached AED 180.52 million, compared to AED 103.90 million.

The banks sector led gainers after rising 1.14%, backed by Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), First Gulf Bank (FGB) and National Bank of Abu Dhabi (ADCB) which went up 1.89%, 1.27% and 1.17% respectively.

The energy sector grew 1.05% as Dana Gas levelled up 1.82%. Meanwhile, TAQA trimmed the market’s losses after falling 1.85%.

The investment sector climbed 2.42% as Waha Capital advanced 2.42%. Likewise, the telecom sector rose gained 0.5% as Etisalat rose 0.5%.

On the flipside, the real estate sector fell 0.6% as Aldar Properties declined 0.7%.

Aldar’s stock was the best performer after generating AED 57.7 million from the exchange of 20.33 million shares.
