ADX sees upward trend amid liquidity recovery

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) managed to rise on Sunday, backed by the semi-collective rise of sectors led by the real estate and energy sectors.

The general index grew 2.73% or 102.10 points to reach 3,839.04 points.

The real estate sector advanced 7.26% after Aldar Properties and Eshraq Properties increased 7.69% and 4.76%, respectively.  

Trading volume reached 169.24 million shares on Sunday, compared to 97.42 million shares on Thursday. Turnover stood at AED 190 million ($51.72 million), compared to AED 143.05 million ($39 million).

The energy sector added 3.9% after Dana Gas levelled up 5%.

The banks sector grew 3.69% due to an increase in Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and First Gulf Bank by 5.61%, 5% and 4.48%, respectively.

The telecom sector went up 0.32% as Etisalat recovered 0.32%.

The UAE markets are expected to recover in the fourth week of 2016 amid the rise of oil prices and positive performance of global markets, as well as investors’ desire to accumulate portfolios and speculate on some selective stocks.
