ADX sheds early gains, ends Monday down

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) concluded Monday's session in the red, amid a rise in trading activity.

The general index suffered pressure from the real estate and telecommunications sectors, which prompted it to shrug of its earlier gains.

The index fell 0.96% or 41.4 points and closed at 4,256.98 points.

Traded volume increased to 106.84 million shares, from Sunday's 90.74 million shares. Similarly, turnover reached AED 143.38 million, up from AED 102.25 million, in the previous session.

The real estate sector slid 2.46% after Eshraq Properties plunged 7.8%, leading losers. The stock was the most active in terms of traded value with AED 61 million. Aldar Properties declined 1.6%.

The telecom sector and its stock Etisalat both retreated 1.39%.

The banking sector shed 0.7% after First Gulf Bank (FGB) and Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) lost 1.26% and 0.57%, respectively.

On the flipside, the energy sector ended in the green, rising 1.48% after Dana Gas gained 1.9%.

Only two other stocks ended on a positive note, namely Julphar and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB).
