ADX turnover drops to 1M low Sunday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed Sunday on a low note, its second straight drop, amid the lowest liquidity levels this month.

The general index shed 0.16% or 7.02 points to 4,498.29 points, thus falling below the 4,500 mark.

Turnover more than halved to AED 75 million on Sunday from AED 168.11 million on Thursday, while traded volume retreated to 72.7 million shares from 104.38 million. A total 693 transactions were executed on Sunday.

Aldar Properties fell 2.02%, whereas Eshraq Properties, which reported turning a profit earlier in the day, grew 1.25% to AED 0.81.

The real estate sector shed 1.53%, leading the market's falling sectors. Meanwhile, the energy sector lost 1.07% after Dana Gas declined 1.32%.

The banks sector edged down 0.16% after Invest Bank slid 8.33%, while Finance House retreated 3.89%.

On the positive side, the telecom sector and its stock Etisalat added 0.28%.

Eshraq was the most actively-traded share in terms of volume and value with 27.6 million shares exchanged at AED 22.34 million through 241 transactions.
