AMF: Bonds promote financial sector in developing countries

Mubasher: Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) highlighted the need of stock markets to develop the financial sector in developing countries, citing their role in helping governments to finance deficits as well as serving as channels through which funds for development projects can be provided.

“Bond markets help in broadening and deepening the financial sector’s reach and also in managing banking risks,” Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Hamidy, AMF director general and chairman of the board, said during his speech at the opening of The Development of Bond Markets forum on Sunday,

Bond markets also play a significant role in executing the cash policies pursued by governments, he added on the sidelines of the event that is organized by AMF’s Economic Policy Institute in cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
