ASE falls Sunday on industrials

Mubasher: The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) ended Sunday in the red, losing 0.55% or 11.63 points, closing at 2102.13 points.

The ASE main index was down on the industrial sector, which fell 1.85%, pushed down (weighed) by 5 stocks led by Al-Eqbal, the session’s biggest loser, which dropped 4.26%.

The services sector also shed 0.33%, on the back of 4 stocks, with Royal Jordanian Airlines slipping 0.8%. The decline was trimmed by Jordan Petroleum Refinery (Jopetrol) which gained 0.29%.

Similarly, the financial sector went down on the back of 4 stocks, namely Contempro which lost 1.96% despite being most active in terms of traded volume with 289,160 shares. Arab Bank decreased 0.8% and registered the biggest turnover of JOD 544,080, while Societe Generale added 6.52% leading the session’s gainers.

Traded volume decreased on Sunday to 8.3 million shares from 9.3 million on Thursday, while traded value increased to JOD 9.2 million compared to JOD 7.8 million in last session.
