ASE rises Sunday blue chips

Mubasher: The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) ended Monday’s trading session in the green zone, as the main index edged up 0.03% or 0.65% and closed at the level of 2,181.1 points.

The main index marginal gains were on the back of blue chip stocks, as Bank of Jordan, Cairo Amman Bank, and Islamic Bank of Jordan rose by 0.34%, 1.62%, and 0.52% respectively. The three stocks combined account for more than 17% of the main index weight.

The industrial sector added 0.41% as Arab Potash led the session’s gainers and increased by 2.85%, while Lafarge and Union Tobacco gained 1.23% and 1.96% respectively.

On the other hand, the services sector slipped 0.1% as Jopetrol and JTEL lost 0.56% and 0.35% respectively.

The financial sector levelled down 0.03% as United Financial Investments led the decliners and dropped 6.7%, Bank Al Etihad decreased 3.92%, while Al Amal Investments gained 1.38%.

Al Amal Investments was the most active in traded volumes with 173,370 shares, and Jopetrol registered the highest turnover at JOD 184,510.

Total traded volumes increased to 4.3 million shares compared to 3.85 million yesterday, while total traded values reached JOD 36.8 million up from JOD 4.21 million on Sunday.
