ASE up for 4th session Thursday

Mubasher: The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) ended Thursday on a rise for the fourth consecutive session, adding 0.5% or 10.68 points, and closing at 2147.48 points.

The main index went up on the back of the banking sector, with Arab Bank levelling up 0.16% and accounting for the highest traded value with JOD 258,480, while Bank of Jordan, Jordan Islamic Bank and Jordan Kuwait Bank added 0.42%, 0.56% and 6.77% respectively.

The industrial sector gained 1.28%, with Eqbal increasing 2.9%, and Universal Modern Industries leading the gainers with 7.14%.

Likewise, the financial sector edged up 0.58% on the back of the leading banks, while the services sector slipped 0.34% with Jopetrol losing 1.67%, and JETT leading the session’s losers with 5.48%.

Traded volume decreased to 6.23 million shares from 6.25 million in the previous session. Total turnover also declined to JOD 6.24 million ($8.79 million) compared to JOD 6.27 million ($8.83 million) on Wednesday.
