Abraaj Group leads funding round for Indian firm

Dubai-Mubasher: The Abraaj Group led a $150 million (AED 550.94 million) round of fundraising for India's largest online retailer BigBasket, according to the group’s statement.

Existing investors such as Bessemer Venture Partners and Helion Advisors along with new investors like International Finance Corp and Sands Capital participated in the round, Abraaj said in a statement.

The statement did not give any further details about the return of fundraising.

 The funding marks the group’s third investment into the global e-commerce market, following its acquisition of stakes in Turkish online retailer Hepsiburada and Dubai-based mobile application taxi service Careem.
