Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Ports Co has signed a shareholder agreement for the creation of a joint venture company with Autoterminal, a member of the Noatum Maritime Group.
Autoterminal is leading multimodal car terminal in the Mediterranean, located in the Port of Barcelona, with more than 25 years’ experience in the automotive sector.
Under a 15-year concession, the new entity, called Autoterminal Khalifa Port, will be responsible for managing the RORO/car terminal in Khalifa Port, according to a statement by Abu Dhabi's developer of ports and industrial zones on Saturday.
The agreement aims at providing the same level of quality that Autoterminal offers for its clients in the Port of Barcelona, in addition to enhancing Khalifa Port’s position as the regional hub for all commercial trade routes in the Gulf, East Africa and the Red Sea.
Located on an area of 300,000 square meters, and with more than 550 meters of dedicated quay that will be located in Khalifa Port, the car terminal will provide a geostrategic location for import traffic which will benefit from the 100 km2 Khalifa Port Free Trade Zone, the statement showed.
Moreover, the new terminal will offer added-value services to all its car terminal users for PDI inspections, vehicle customization and other technical services, Abu Dhabi Ports said, giving no further details on the value of the project.
