Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The number of standard containers handled by the Abu Dhabi Ports company went up 24% to 1.74 million in 2018, compared to 1.4 million a year earlier.
The volume of general and bulk goods handled by the company increased by 5.9% year-on-year to 19.7 million metric tonnes last year, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Moreover, turnover of goods transported by vehicles levelled up 4.2% to 143,000 in 2018 versus 137,000 in 2017.
Abu Dhabi Ports, which manages Khalifa Industrial City, a regional major industrial city, reported an overall growth of 14.2% in 2018.
“Abu Dhabi Ports and its subsidiaries accomplished significant achievements, including the launch of new ports, as well as the signing of agreements that will help it achieve the strategic priorities of the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030,” WAM said.
