Abu Dhabi Ports leases 2m square metres of industrial land in H1-21

UAE - Mubashare: Abu Dhabi Ports has leased over 2.2 million square metres of its Industrial Cities & Free Zone Cluster to local, regional, and international businesses during the first half (H1) of 2021.

This performance has indicated the acceleration in demands for industrial lands, namely from key economic sectors such as metals, food, auto, technology, and chemicals, despite the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, according to a press release on Monday.

Abu Dhabi Ports' Industrial Cities & Free Zone Cluster comprises Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (KIZAD) and ZonesCorp, with a total of 550 square kilometres of industrial and commercial land.

Meanwhile, KIZAD and ZonesCorp have witnessed a rise in foreign direct investments (FDIs) in H1-21, especially for sectors such as e-commerce, plastics, logistics, and light manufacturing.

The industrial zones in Abu Dhabi are home to over 1,500 businesses across various sectors, including advanced manufacturing, life sciences and biopharma, food and agri-tech, as well as machinery and equipment.

The Head of the Industrial Cities and Free Zone Cluster at Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Abdullah Al Hameli, said: "Leveraging our strategic location, at the heart of the world and the crossroads between the east and the west, the industrial zones in Abu Dhabi are quickly evolving into global hubs for key sectors where businesses cater to the needs of almost 4.5 billion consumers in immediate geographic regions."
