Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The number of travellers through Abu Dhabi International Airport inched up 0.7% to 11.9 million passengers in the first half of 2017 from 11.8 million passengers in H1-16, according to a report by the airport.
India topped the list of the most popular destinations through Abu Dhabi International Airport in H1-17, followed by Saudi Arabia and the UK.
Air traffic to London and Delhi went up 6% and 11%, respectively, in June 2017, compared to the same period of the year before, the report mentioned.
The number of passengers dropped 5.3% on a monthly basis to 1.76 million passengers in June 2017 from 1.86 million passengers in June 2016.
“Traffic is down slightly. Some flights in and out of the UAE have been halted in the last month [June] due to regional events,” the acting chief operations officer at Abu Dhabi International Airport Ahmed Al Shamsi said, adding that “carriers are now operating their flights point to point only [from Abu Dhabi and to Abu Dhabi] with no transit operations.”
