Abu Dhabi banks see AED 9.6bn income in Q1-20

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The net income of the commercial and Islamic banks operating in Abu Dhabi totalled AED 9.6 billion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, compared to AED 10.36 billion in the same period of 2019.

The Islamic banks accounted for 12.5% of the sector's interest and investment income, while commercial banks represented 88.5% at around AED 8.5 billion, according to the Statistics Center - Abu Dhabi (SCAD).

The earnings of the emirate's Islamic amounted to AED 1.1 billion in the first three months of 2020.

Meanwhile, the investment income of the conventional banks reached AED 1.5 billion.
