Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The UAE’s Education Price Index (EPI) for the academic year 2018/2019 in the emirate of Abu Dhabi grew by 3.4% in 2018 from a year ago, data released by the Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi (SCAD) showed.
The EPI registered 108.0% in 2018 compared to 104.4% in 2017, the SCAD noted.
It added that for Al Ain, the EPI logged the highest rise of 4.3% in 2018, while Al Dhafra’s EPI increased by 0.9%.
“The Higher Education group achieved the highest contribution to the rise in 2018 compared with 2017, contributing 76.7% of the total increase, where prices rose by 11.0%,” Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported, citing SCAD data.
Meanwhile, prices in the primary and pre-primary education stages increased by 1.7%, making up 26.8% of the total rise in Abu Dhabi.
“The Education not defined by any level group increased by 15.3%, and contributed 4.8% to the overall increase,” WAM added.
On the other hand, secondary school education fell 2.6% and offset the rise by 13.1%.
