Abu Dhabi hotel guest numbers rise 7.4% YoY in January

Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The number of hotel guests in Abu Dhabi increased 7.4% year-on-year to 437,228 in January 2018, according to the Department of Culture and Tourism’s data.

The 437,228 guests stayed in 162 hotel apartments and hotels across the emirate, with 30,000 gusts up from their number in the same month a year earlier.

The number of hotel guests grew 17.3% in Al Dhafra, followed by 7% in Al Ain, and 6.3% in Abu Dhabi, according to the data

The growth of hotel guest number in Abu Dhabi led by visitors from the US with 36.1%, followed by India with 31.5%, the UK with 19.1%, Saudi Arabia with 15.4%, and China with 10.7%.

“We continue to invest heavily in promoting the emirate abroad across our source markets, with our strategy paying dividends in attracting more hotel guests than ever before,” DCT’s director general Saif Saeed Ghobash said.

On the negative side, hotel occupancy rates tumbled slightly in Al Ain and Al Dhafra.
