Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi hotel guests increased 13% year-on-year in August, data released by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism showed.
Around 166 UAE hotels accommodated 426,912 guests in August, compared to figures from the year-ago period.
Meanwhile, at the level of the first eight months of the year increased 7% year-on-year, while occupancy levels reached 68% occupancy, the tourism department added.
The “dramatic double digit increase,” as described by the emirate’s tourism department, helped raise the number of guests in the UAE to over 3.1 million in the first eight months of 2017.
“We are encouraged by August’s figures and the increased growth, during a month, which is traditionally a quieter time of the year for hotel guests,” Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general of the Department of Culture and Tourism, said.
“Our annual Abu Dhabi summer season, which ran from 20 July until 20 August, once again proved highly popular with domestic visitors and we saw key international markets all show notable growth during the month,” he added.
Guests coming from India to Abu Dhabi grew 24%, whereas Chinese visitors surged 68%, and Saudi Arabians rose 9.9%.
