Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The number of guests in Abu Dhabi hotels rose 9% to 4.9 million in 2017, compared to 4.4 million in 2016, according to data released by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture & Tourism.
Visitors to Al Ain increased 5.5% to 450,000 across 20 hotels in 2017, while guests to Al Dhafra jumped 8% to 130,000, the data showed.
China topped the list of visitors coming to Abu Dhabi, followed by India in second place.
Meanwhile, the UK ranked first among European guests visiting the emirate. UK visitors grew 13% in 2017 from the year before, while US guests increased 23% last year.
Domestic tourism grew 2.6% in 2017 to 1.5 million visitors, the data indicated.
