Abu Dhabi inflation up in February

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi’s inflation rose 2.1% year-on-year in February 2017, according to a report by Statistics Center - Abu Dhabi (SCAD).

The consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.1% month-on-month in February.

There was an overall rise of 2% in consumer prices during the first two months of this year, compared to the same period in 2016.

The housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group accounted for the largest rise in the index during the first two months of 2017 compared to the prior-year period, contributing to the change by 73.4%.

This contribution resulted from an increase of 4.3% in the prices of this group.

The transportation sector rose 2.9%, contributing 20.1% to the CPI rise in the first two months of 2017.

The recreation and culture group fell 9.9% year-on-year in the first two months of 2017.
