Abu Dhabi licenses AED 6.4bn industrial activities

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The number of the new industrial licences entered into production in Abu Dhabi soared 85% year-on-year to 37 during 2017, with a total investment of AED 6.4 billion, according to a report released on Sunday by Department of Economic Development (DED).

The new licences are distributed among 29 factories in Abu Dhabi, 6 factories in Al Ain, and 2 factories in Al Dhafra, the report found.

The industrial license activities registered in Abu Dhabi are distributed over various industries, including chemical, metal, materials, fibreglass, plastic and sponge, food, and recycling industries, the DED’s data showed.

“Index of the conversion of industrial licenses under process status to production recorded a rise of 85% by converting 37 licenses to the production status, during 2017 compared to about 20 licenses in 2016,” the report revealed.

The number of renewed industrial licenses of production surged 5.2% year-on-year in the previous year, recording 684 licenses versus 650 in 2016, the report added.

“The renewed Industrial licenses “under process” Index, was up by 11.6% with a renewal of 287 licenses in 2017, compared to about 257 licenses a year earlier,” the economic development department concluded.
